DWIGHT
WRITES
I only have a bit of a garden this
year. How about you? How does your garden grow?I have some climbing beans that we have been enjoying each day. Our tomatoes will be ripe soon. The one sweet pepper plant along with our one eggplant are putting on their fruit. The few potatoes we have are already blooming. Now our onions are a whole different story. Usually I set out nearly 200 sets of onions. This year the harvest will be nil ~ zero ! nada ~ nothing. … O yea, I didn’t get any set out this year. I should not be surprised that I cannot harvest what I did not plant. And, I’m not surprised, only disappointed.
It seems to me that this same dynamic continues to be at work in our lives of Faith, individually and corporately. That which we have not planted and tended and cared for, we cannot hope to harvest. However, even in this season of growth and harvest all around there continues to be signs of good news and grace available. Not only can we harvest what we have planted in the Faith, but there is still time to plant. What would you hope to harvest? ~ Faith, Hope, Love, Patience, Kindness, Generosity, Hospitality ~ or something else?
One item of good news that we have continually been harvesting since the summer of 2011 is GENEROSITY. Our giving has consistently been ahead of what our needs have been. This is because of the faithful giving of so many of you. THANK YOU! If each one of us continues to share our talents and our gifts, the church will be strengthened AND so will each one of us.
Let me close with these nesting words, for your reflection.
Grace
and Peace, Pastor Dwight
