LENTEN LUNCH AND A WORD
You are invited to be part of an exciting Bible study during Lent this year. We will be studying the Gospel of Mark - but in a way you probably have not done before. The entry way into the words of Mark will be through simple crossword-puzzles. The first will be done in class. These will draw us into the Gospel in ways that we can share questions, insights and understandings. This year our Lenten study will be at the Faith Lutheran Church from 12 - 1 pm. on the every Thursday in March . Please bring a sack lunch, your Bible and don't forget to include your curiosity and wonder.
Pastor Celeste and Pastor Dwight will be leading this study together.

2012 Lenten Devotion Book
Lenten Book will be printed on February 7th & 8th then on Monday February 13th at 9:00 a.m. I will need your help once again to staple and fold the books and then placed in the envelopes to be mailed out. I would like to thank all of you who submitted devotions and helped get them ready to mail out. This is a group project and it takes all of us to accomplish it.

A change in Sunday morning coffee
Starting February 5 we will No longer have coffee and snacks before Sunday school. The Adult Sunday school class in the Upper Room will have Sunday school at 9:15 to 9:45 and then will have a coffee time for anyone who wishes to join us before worship. We will have coffee, tea bags, hot chocolate mix & apple cider mix available too. There will be extra table space available for sitting. Please come join us before worship.

The local unit of the United Methodist Women are going to offer a spiritual exercise/discipline called Prayer Partners during the coming year, 2012. It is intentionally designed for paired individuals committed to prayer and support of each other.
While sponsored by the UMW, Prayer Partners is intended for persons of all ages and both genders. Its foci will be prayer and growth between persons; gifts and seasonal remembrances are optional.
Please consider this your invitation to sign up through the church office by February 15, 2012, on the brief form there. (it can be mailed to you, if desired.) shortly after that you will be notified of the identity of your mutual Prayer Partner.

DWIGHT WRITES

During this season of Epiphany where we seek to be open and aware of the Light of God, let us learn ever new ways to open our eyes. God’s Presence continues to be made known in so many ways. We can only respond and give thanks. God continues to shower love and grace upon us, and the whole creation. We have been recipients. Let us also continue to be reflectors of God into the world, by the way we love.
Let me share a nesting with you that begins to speak of this process. Might the words speak to you:
Holy Light is reflected.

I hope that you have been doing activities that strengthen your spiritual discipline. As always I invite you to read - think about - study the lessons for next Sunday. These lessons can be found elsewhere in the newsletter and are listed in the bulletin each Sunday. Doing this you participate in worship, whether you are here, visiting another church, or unable to be physically present.
I would also invite you to read the Gospel of Mark during the month of February. During February and March, the Gospel reading for the day/week will often be taken from Mark. There are 16 chapters. If you would read 1/2 of a chapter plus each day, you would read the whole chapter during the month of February. Or, you may try to read the whole book each week – reading from a different translation each week.. Or …
