On Saturday, February 1,
2014 the Griswold United Methodist Church will be holding a special event
celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the church sanctuary. We will be lifting up and celebrating the
many ways our congregation has been in ministry these past 100 years. There are countless stories about how lives
have been touched as individuals and families have grown up in the faith and
reached out in love and care to so many.
If you have any special stories or experiences that you would be willing
to share please send them to the church.
We will use as many of these as possible as we put materials
together. Some will be used in the
worship~celebration on that day. Others
will be put together in a small booklet.
There will also be a DVD where we will hear some stories being told by
current members and friends.
Please
send your stories to the church at giaumc@netins.net , if possible. Or you may mail
them to the church at PO 549, Griswold, IA 51535Our celebration will take place exactly 100 years, to the day, when the dedication was held back in 1914. More details about the events on February 1 will be made known in the weeks ahead. We hope that you will be able to participate in a variety of ways.

time and people to make it successful. Hanging of the greens will be November 24th following worship service. This holiday season the youth group
would like to have a “Progressive Supper” or lunch. We’re looking for someone to host us for appetizers, main meal and dessert. Would you like to help us? It would probably be 8-10 people and we would
set a date that works for everyone –maybe a Sunday in December or January. If you would like to open your home or host
us somewhere, please let Kyla know.
Thanks!
The UMW still have cookbooks in the
office for sale, the cost is $10.00 each.
They could & would make nice Christmas, wedding, or birthday
gifts. They also have scrubbers in a
great choice of colors.

The NO more Malaria
luncheon that was held Sunday, Oct. 13 was a success! Anytime we get together for the good of
others is a success. We brought in $400.00 to help stop Malaria.
The Church, Society & Mission Committee has had 3 fund raisers this year for the No More Malaria campaign and they did very well. I think they have made all of us more aware of what we can do— so far this year our church has given the No More Malaria fund -$1,550.00 Doesn’t that make you feel good!
You are
responsible for your own replacement.
