DWIGHTWRITES
Greetingsin the name of Jesus Christ!
July inIowa is a season of growth for most of those items planted in the spring. Some things are matured and ready forharvest. A few items are planted in thisseason, but for most it is a time of growing.
For eachone of us, as persons of faith, it is meant to be a time of growing. Faith has been planted in you, as a gift fromGod. It can only only grow if you havereceived it. For us to be changed andgrow in our faith, we discover that it is a partnership project with God. As Bishop Reuben Job, former Bishop of theIowa Annual Conference, wrote “Conversion” in A Guide To Prayer For All Who SeekGod,p. 249 “We cannot transform ourselves and God does not transform us against ourwishes. However, once we invite God’stransforming presence into our lives, the necessary power to change comes withtransforming presence.”
We can only growwhat we plant or what has been planted in us. Let us all be intentional about our growth in the faith during theselong sunny days of summer.
Might we allgrow ever more in love with God and all that God loves.
I would like toclose with a Nesting that was written while reflecting on Psalm 1. I hope these words might speak to and foryou.
Blessings andPeace,
Pastor Dwight
I shall not be moved.
I shall not be moved
away from the placeI’ve been planted.
I shall not be moved!
Away from the placeI’ve been planted –
I shall not be moved.
I shall not be moved
away from the placeI’ve been planted.
I shall not be moved,
but I will growdeeper roots and bear rich fruit.
I shall not be moved
away. From the place I’ve been planted,
I shall not be moved.
But, I will growdeeper roots and bear rich fruit
because the Lord’sgift of life has taken ahold of me.
