BIBLE STUDY - “THE STORY”
Begins on Thursday, September 6 at 12:00 pm
and 7:00 pm. To all those participating in the study "The Story"
- the class sessions will be for 1 hour.
We will meet in the Upper Room in the United Methodist Church. Please
read the 1st chapter "Creation: The Beginning of Life as We Know It".
Take a look at the discussion questions in the back of the book. We will plan
to meet the first three Thursdays of each month.
Vacation Bible School -2012 “At the Movies”
VBS was held August 6, 7 & 8th in the evenings and Wednesday evening was “family night”. Our church had the Pre –K though 1st gradersand averaged 10 to 12 kids. Faith had the 2nd to 5th graders there and had 15 in attend. The offering collected this year went to the Open Door Mission. We had a speaker come during the program & we sent around $100.00 with him that night. Along with his minivan filled with clothes/toys/books etc. that we also had donated from families. Thanks to everyone who helped or donated food items!
To all parents and adults in the faith ~ please do all that you can to help the youth, who have
recently professed their faith, live into the vows they have made. All adults can make a difference for the youth, but you parents are still the primary role models. Thank you for your faithfulness. The ways that you model the faith will ripple down through the years. Might we all participate in the ministry of the church with our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our witness and our service.
Thanks be to God!
Our Prayers and sympathies go out to the families and friends of:
Jean Burnham passed away on Aug. 13 and her services were held here on August 16.
Rilla Shires, sister-in-law of Pat & Lynn Schaaf, and aunt of Peggy Casey passed away on August 8 in Arizona. Grave side service was held at the Hillside cemetery in Elliott on Monday, August 20.
Dolores ’Dee” Courcier passed away on Saturday, August 18. Graveside service was held on
Tuesday, Aug. 21
DWIGHT WRITES
I offer this prayer on behalf of each one who reads it and to all who are in any way connected with a community of faith. Dwight
“O LORD, I know your
holy desire is to bestow your gifts of love and grace upon us and the whole
creation. O Holy One, you want us to
receive all that you have to offer so that our lives will be filled to
overflowing. When we are filled with
your love and grace we will be moving in the direction of loving you more fully
and loving your creation as you do.
Lord don’t let us
settle for less than all you give. We
confess that too often we settle for just having our names on the church books
and we settle for worshipping you when it is no bother for us, and we ignore
opportunities to love and serve our neighbor.
Forgive us and open our eyes to your faith and love that is unending.
Might we enter fully into your love and
grace, O Wondrous God. You have made yourself known most fully to us in the
life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
We are filled with Thanksgiving and Praise as we continue to become
aware that you still are creating new life out of death. Be at work among us and let us receive you
into ourselves and be at work in the world.
Thanks be to Thee! Amen.”
Psalm 88:13
“But I, O LORD, cry out to you; in the morning my prayer comes before you.”
