Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ;    With every baptism and every time some one joins the church, we the congregation make the following response:
“As members together with you in the body of Christ and in this congregation of The United Methodist Church, we renew our covenant faithfully to participate in the ministries of the church by our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness, that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.”
It will necessarily take a life time to live into that response and to fully flesh it out in our living.  I’m extending the invitation to each of you, and to all of us together, to reflect on ways that we have and can participate in the ministries of the church.
Our prayers include                                                                                        .
Our presence means                                                                                      .
Our gifts are                                                                                                       .
Our service is                                                                                                     .
Our witness happens                                                                                     .
Only you can fill in your blanks.  Only we can fill in our blanks.  If we don’t fill them in with the actions and intentions of hearts and lives, they will remain blank.
Thank you for all of the ways that you participate in the ministries of the church.  Together we are seeking to make a faithful response to God.  As the Griswold United Methodist Church we have declared, as our Mission statement, “To praise God and enrich the lives of families and individuals by encouraging prayers, Bible study, and practical application of the teachings of Jesus.”  Might we continue to be open to God’s leading and guiding presence as we seek live out a faith-filled response to God’s love and grace. --Pastor Dwight

Morning Circle news: The ladies in the Morning Circle have been busy this year.  They have decided they would work on Ingathering kits all year long.  Each month members were to bring items in to fill a kit.  So far this year they have filled:
40 –school kits
1 –Layette kit for UMCOR
4 –Health kits
6 –Sewing kits
5 –Layette Kits for the INP (Iowa Nigeria partnership)
They have most of the stuff to fill two more UMCOR Layette kits and 4 more health kits.  Isn’t it amazing what a group can do in 9 months, a little bit at a time can really add up.
They also have an assortment of greeting cards & napkins for sale in the  upper room.  They are located on the west wall by the banister.
The ladies are also planning something really sweet.  A ‘pie auction’ to be held after worship on November 18th. (That is just 4 days before thanksgiving)
UMW news:  Heads up —the Fall Dinner is just around the corner (Sunday, November 4th) and the ladies will be calling for your help cooking, cleaning, furnish food  or money.  So please do what you can to make their job easier and the Griswold UMC Fall Dinner another success. We need you all!
“Knitted With Love –by Vi ”   Vi McCullough gave the UMW & the Morning Circle several stocking hats that she has made this year.  The ladies will be selling the stocking hats in the Upper Room for $3.00 each.  The hats would make great gifts for  Christmas or birthdays.
